                David E. Hickman Day

Hometown: Greensboro, NC

​

David died Nov. 14, 2011 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered after encountering an improvised explosive device, he was just 23 years old.

​

He was a part of Operation New Dawn.

​

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion,

325th Airborne Infantry Regiment,

2nd Brigade Combat Team, 

82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

​

David earned numerous awards

including the National Defense Service

Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism

Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Expert

Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Good

Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, the Purple Heart,

and Parachutist Badge.
